It’s fantastic news that four million people came to Edinburgh’s festivals this year, despite the rain and the Olympics (your report, 18 August). I’m actually amazed that the ticketed events did so well because I think the prices are outrageous. This year, I stuck to free events such as the  Edinburgh Mela, and had a marvellous time.
