Four weeks more

I noted that your report of the Electoral Commission’s evidence to the Scottish affairs committee (“MPs warn lack of rules on referendum campaigns could lead to a free-for-all”, 5 July), suggested the commission had indicated the referendum campaign would not be subject to regulation until 12 weeks before the vote. I’d like to clarify for your readers that the commission, in its response to the Scottish Government’s consultation paper on the referendum, has suggested a minimum regulated period of 16 weeks, not 12 weeks.
