Festival of litter

Your photo (9 July) of the disgusting litter left after 
T in the Park reveals a woeful lack of respect for our environment from such a high proportion of the revellers, who seem to regard the mess as inevitable. Surely the event could be used for their much-needed education.

It would only need the planning authority to require the organisers to ask for, say, a £100 deposit from each group or pitch, returnable only on inspection of an immaculate site on departure.

The first requirement for camping, well known to every Brownie or Wolf Cub, is to leave one’s site at least as good as it started!
