Fast forward

Surely in our hopefully soon-to-be independent country we should be looking to our European neighbours and adopting metric distances and speed limits.

The European speed limit of 120 kilometres per hour would suit motorways, and 90kph for lorries, cars and motorcycles for A roads. The graduated speed limit on approach to junctions, as used in some Nordic countries, would not only add to road safety but would underline our commitment to the adoption of new ideas.
