Education rights

I AM proud to live in a country that is providing medical treatment for the 14-year-old schoolgirl, Malala Yousafzai, who was shot by the Taleban for campaigning for education rights for girls in Pakistan (your report, 16 October).

I hope teachers and parents here will explain to young girls that they should never take education for granted when brave youngsters like Malala have to take such risks to make a better future for themselves.
