Class challenge
Judging from voluminous correspondence to The Scotsman, Richard Lucas and colleagues appear to believe that getting into the Kingdom of Heaven is reserved for a small and select group.
However, I have news for them: I believe it is much more of a challenge to get into the First Class lounge at Aberdeen railway station.
On several occasions recently, armed with my first class ticket, I have attempted to gain entry to its hallowed portals, only to be told by the female equivalent of St Peter that a) I had the wrong type of ticket; b) the ticket was from the wrong train operator; c) the ticket was “not valid”.
As I have never seen anyone actually penetrate the place, on the last occasion of rejection I asked the Guardian of the Gate who did get admitted. Her response was “hardly anyone”. A request for clarification from ScotRail confirmed its arcane regulations.
If Heaven is equally inaccessible, then I fear it will be no fun for the more gregarious who gain admittance there.
