Camp a bad idea

There were some great ideas to emerge from the Edinburgh Festivals Ideas Challenge. To create a campsite on the Meadows was not one of them. Far from moves to create such a monstrosity having “taken a major step forward” (your report, 8 December), the idea is a non-starter.

From where has your reporter got the information that “the council has said it is supportive of the idea in principle”?

The matter has not been debated and I have not found any administration councillor who supports the idea.

The Meadows has been suggested as a temporary campsite in the past – and firmly rejected. That was why, for example, the G8 protesters in 2005 were dir-ected to a 15,000 capacity campsite at Hunter’s Hall Park and were refused permission to set up camp in the Meadows.

Her Omnipotence, Sue Bruce, said it was a good idea, Jenny. Why do you think She should discuss the matter with you and the pathetic band of incomptetent amateurs you call an 'administration'? Never mind, Dear, you'll be getting a nice Report, with coloured pictures of puppies and kittens, to Approve in due course.
