Bog standard

I read with interest your report on the rehabilitation of the world famous Caithness blanket bog (“Lottery to give £4m to Flow Country restoration”, 11 October), in particular the statement that “there is far more carbon stored in peat than there is in our forests”.

This gives added weight to the recent calculations carried out at Aberdeen University showing that turbines erected on peatlands do not contribute to reductions in carbon dioxide emissions. I look forward to hearing the details of the Holyrood administration’s reassessment of its strategy in relation to the construction of wind farms on our moorlands.
