Alcoholic drinks getting stronger

I COULDN’T help being amused by the headline “Neil targets NHS booze ‘nightmare’” (News, 9 September), placed as it was under your “2 for 1 dining” offer illustrated by a tempting picture of a large glass of white wine.

Seriously, more attention needs to be drawn to the fact that we are now drinking much stronger beers and wines than a few years ago. Motorists allowing themselves a “small glass” of wine may  not realise that could be 14 per cent ABV or even more.
