Afghan farce

When the boys finally come home, the Fourth Afghan War will have lasted 13 years and will be our longest military adventure since the Napoleonic era.

If the First World War was the most pointless bloodbath into which we stumbled, the Anglo-American attempt to bomb medieval tribesmen into democracy has run it close.
