A long way since Beeching’s cuts

I SUSPECT Ruth Davidson wasn’t around when Dr Beeching was finished with the Scottish rail infrastructure but she should check her facts (Insight, 2 September). It is absurd to say that the Scottish rail infrastructure is much as Beeching left it. What about the electrification of the East and West Coast Main Lines and the Ayrshire Lines? What about the lines that have been reopened, Glasgow Central Low Level, Bathgate and Airdrie, Alloa, Paisley Canal and the others? What about the improvements to service frequencies and the station re-openings?
