Leslie plots his comeback in the jungle

CONTROVERSIAL star John Leslie is set to make a TV comeback on reality show I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

The Edinburgh-born former This Morning host, 41, has been lined up to join the cast of the jungle survival show hosted by Ant and Dec.

Leslie is understood to be planning a Michael Barrymore-style return to television. Barrymore's career lay in tatters after Stuart Lubbock was found dead in the star's swimming pool in 2001.

He bounced back with an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother and will star in the musical Scrooge at the Capital's Festival Theatre in January.

A friend of Leslie's reportedly said: "John wants to get back into showbiz and hopes I'm A Celebrity will give him the platform. Michael proved there is redemption through reality TV. John hopes the public will warm to him in the same way."

Leslie's career collapsed in 2002 when he was first named in the Ulrika Jonsson rape allegations - which were never proved - and was then involved in sex and drug scandals. He has since revealed plans to move back to Edinburgh.
