Leith plans go under theatre spotlight
THE row over the future of Leith's docklands has taken a new twist after it emerged the controversy had helped inspire a play.
A new theatre company has unveiled plans to create a production for the annual Leith Festival about the changing face of the port.
It will address the growing controversy over developer Forth Ports' plans to revamp the docks over the next 30 years, including renaming the heart of the area "Edinburgh Harbour".
The show has been devised by Active Inquiry, a theatre company set up by Gavin lecturer at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, and will be performed by amateur actors. Titled Space, it will premiere in June.
The show threatens to be embarrassing for Forth Ports given that it is the major commercial sponsor of Leith Festival.
