DANCERS Loli Holyer, Jayne Forbes, Susan Tonner and Wendy Holyer, from Twisted Tails, helped launch this year’s Leith Festival yesterday.

The street launch at the Kirkgate Shopping Centre featured performances from a host of diverse acts including Absolute Improv, the Twisted Tails dancers, a belly dance troupe, and the Ghanaian Dancers and Drummers.

Running over a nine-day period, the Leith Festival is a central part of the port’s cultural calendar.

Organiser Tony Delicata said: “There’s 54 events going on, and as it’s my first year of being involved, it’s been quite a journey. I’m also directing a play, Sinatra: The Final Curtain, and one of my cast has pulled out, so I’m stepping in and I haven’t learnt my lines yet!”
