A 17-YEAR-OLD schoolboy from Leith has been chosen by the Pet Shop Boys to remix their latest single.

The track by Unicorn Kid, aka Leith Academy pupil Oli Sabin, will be the B-side on the 12" vinyl of Did You See Me Coming when it is released on June 1, and will also feature in the downloadable digital bundle.

The pop duo were introduced to the teenager's work by their friend Peter Robinson, who is author of the music blog Popjustice, after he heard some of his work and was impressed.

Despite the fact the youngster has to split his time between his music career and his homework, it's not his first taste of success. He has already been played on Radio 1, featured in NME, played two sold-out London shows and recorded a BBC session.

His own debut single features three tracks, Lion Hat, Goodbye and 8 Bytes. As well as recording and producing all the tracks, he has completed all the artwork himself.

He will tour the UK in May and June, stopping off at the HMV Picture House in Lothian Road on May 30 and Cabaret Voltaire in Blair Street on June 23.

A true product of the MySpace generation, the social networking site has helped him build up a following around the world, as far afield as Japan, the US and Canada.
