Legal update
PEOPLE JOHN H Sinclair, former professor of conveyancing at Strathclyde University, died last week, aged 74, his family announced.
A practising solicitor and author of Handbook of Conveyancing Practice in Scotland, Prof Sinclair was also a former office bearer of the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow.

BRIAN Inkster, of Inksters Solicitors, and his wife, Nicola Walls, have flown to Argentina to help the charity Habitat for Humanity renovate homes for families living in poverty in Buenos Aires.
AWARDS
GILBERT Anderson of Anderson Solicitors was named Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year (Defendant) at the UK-wide Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Awards last week.
He was the only solicitor from Scotland nominated for the awards.
EVENTS
ACCESS to justice for disabled people in Scotland will be the subject of a conference being held in Edinburgh today.
The summit, which will be opened by justice secretary Kenny MacAskill, will bring together legal practitioners and disabled people to discuss how access to justice can be improved for people with disabilities.
The event will be held at the Hilton Edinburgh Airport Hotel.
• PROFESSIONAL liability and discipline will be under examination at the latest of Axiom Advocates' "Third Thursday" series of lectures in Edinburgh on 19 November.
Chaired by Iain Ferguson QC, the event will look at recent developments in liability in both Scotland and England as well as developments in professional regulation.
The lecture will be held in the Mackenzie Building and will start at 4:15pm.
• "THIS house believes the employees should have a voice in the boardroom" is the motion under debate at an event being held by DLA Piper's employment team in Glasgow on 26 November.
