Legal wrangle clouds tragic tot’s final fate

THE MOTHER of a toddler swept to his death by a freak wave has still to lay her little boy to rest because she is locked in a legal wrangle with her estranged husband over his ashes.

Jadwiga Serafin wants her son Eryk Cieraszewska to be buried near their adopted home in Kirkcaldy, Fife. But the boy’s father is battling to have the three-year-old’s ashes taken to Poland.

The tragic youngster was swept into the sea front in Kirkcaldy in November last year.

Miss Serafin, 28, said: “Eryk hasn’t been buried yet. My ex-husband, we’ve been arguing over what to do with the ashes. “I’m hoping he will sign the papers to let me take them and bury them in Kirkcaldy. I want a proper grave – somewhere to go and remember Eryk. That will be closure.”
