Leader is appointed to implement findings of ME report
A CHARITY supporting people with ME in the Lothians has welcomed the appointment of an NHS worker to implement measures in a key report.
Edmesh has long called for an ME lead to be installed at the health board to capitalise on a report produced by them and the NHS about how services towards those with the disease should change in coming years.
But key figures in the charity grew frustrated with health chiefs when a lead wasn't appointed soon after the report was leaked to the Evening News. Now NHS Lothian has recruited Paul Currie, a strategic programme manager, to take on the role, which should see progress made on the approach to ME in the Lothians, Edmesh said.
A spokeswoman said: "The Believe in ME report, based on our patient survey questionnaires, has not yet been officially published as there were still some changes being made. However, when it is ready, we hope it will be widely distributed to health and social care professionals as previously agreed."
