Law chief driven by cold case justice

A LEADING Scottish law officer, at the helm of a new national cold case unit, has revealed she is driven to tackle unsolved crimes by the memory of scenes she has witnessed during her career.

Solicitor General Lesley Thomson told how she attended murder scenes and post-mortem examinations after she began working in law in her mid-20s.

“I don’t want to say it is not upsetting,” she said. “When you visit a crime scene, you go into professional mode and do your job – but then you can’t get it out of your mind. I think you would have to be a very strange person indeed if things like that didn’t affect you.”

The QC – second to Scotland’s senior law officer, Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland – said she believes the brutality she has witnessed has made her more determined to seek justice for the relatives of victims.

She told a newspaper: “It does give you that additional drive. You use the experience, no matter how difficult it may have been, to get a resolution. It is what makes you ensure that what can be done will be done.”

Scotland’s cold case unit (CCU) was set up in June last year.

Its establishment followed the trials of serial killer Peter Tobin and the conviction of wife murderer Malcolm Webster. In November, the Crown Office revealed that five murders have been “prioritised for immediate investigation” by the CCU after potential suspects were identified.

Yes another person lying again, the Crown Office does everything it can to protect Murderers, Paedophiles, Fraudsters etc. The Crown Office refused to prosecute 13 Crooked Solicitors that defrauded the Scottish Legal Aid Board of large sums of taxpayers money, refused to order the Police to interview all the people that Hollie Greig said that abused her over many years. The Crown Office spent over £500.000.00. on prosecuting a whistle blower that exposed the abuse on Hollie Greig, a Downs Syndrome Girl. The Crown Office in the Paedophiles, Crooked Solicitors that have defrauded SLAB out of large sum of taxpayers money, this is just another lying corrupt Solicitor working in our Corrupt Crown Office, better known as the Clown Office. The Previous Lord Advocate refused to respond to information requested from her by the Scottish Information Commissioner of her abusing taxpayers money, it now appears that she will be persecuted, but the new Corrupt Information Commissioner that is about to be appointed will refuse to prosecute her and will reverse many of the good decisions made by the present Information Commissioner, the fraud and corruption will continue in our Corrupt Crown Office.
