Landmark store to have £4.5m revamp
SCOTLAND'S best-known department store is set to undergo its most radical makeover, The Scotsman has learned.
About 3 million worth of work will be carried out at Jenners, on Edinburgh's Princes Street, this summer.
A further 1.5 million is expected to be spent over the following 18 months as part of an effort to rid the store of its "tired and worn" look.
Modern overhauls and expansions are promised for the women's accessories, jewellery and shoe departments, while the beauty counters will also be revamped.
The menswear section will see the introduction of several new brands, including Polo, Ralph Lauren, Gant, Superdry and Canali.
Work to restore historic features, in particular in the building's grand hall, will be carried out while many features added over the last 30 years and now outmoded will be ripped out.
The new-look store will be launched in October.
