Body found in woods is missing teenage girl

A BODY found in woods in the Highlands is that of a missing teenage girl, police confirmed last night.

Moyra Liz As-Chainey, 16, was last seen at 8.30am on Wednesday at her home in the village of Edderton, Easter Ross.

Around 50 people, including mountain rescue teams, coastguards and police, took part in a hunt for the girl, whose disappearance was said to be out of character by those who knew her.

The search was stood down when a body was found near Edderton at around 4pm on Friday.

Police formally identified the body yesterday and said no suspicious circumstances surround her death.

Moyra, originally from the Netherlands, was a fifth-year pupil at Tain Royal Academy. A report on her death will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
