Kidney unit hit by faults delay
CAMPAIGNERS have voiced concern that the opening of a kidney facility at a new Glasgow hospital has been delayed because of a design fault.
A key part of the 100 million PFI New Victoria Hospital in the city's southside is still closed on account of deficiencies identified in the water treatment plant used in kidney dialysis.
Andrew Allison, of the Scottish Kidney Federation, said: "This is a large concern for us, when you consider the amount of money that has been spent on the facilities which are not being used. It is the patient who is being short-changed."
