Judo star enjoying life out of limelight
HE IS used to being mobbed by fans as he walks down the streets of his home country, but the Japanese judo legend Kosei Inoue is currently enjoying anonymity in Edinburgh.
Three times world champion and and Olympic gold medal winner, he is staying in the capital for six months to learn English.
Inoue, 30, is studying at the Basil Paterson College and attending training sessions at the Judo Scotland headquarters in Ratho. Although now retired from judo, he is set to continue as an ambassador for the sport.
Inoue is a huge celebrity in his home country, but in Scotland it is only his tourist countrymen who recognise him. He said: "The expression on their face is, 'How come you're here?'"
