Homegrown plan kicks in

NEW incentives for clubs to introduce home-grown players to their first teams have been welcomed by the Scottish Premier League.

The Scottish Football Association have launched a 500,000 initiative to encourage clubs to develop and promote young players.

The Performance Awards Scheme means that SPL clubs who select two Scottish Under-21 players in their starting line-up in any competitive match will receive 750 from the SFA, and 1,000 for selecting three or more.
