Joined-Up thinking brings new face to Leith in Ports battle

THE organisation set-up to counter Forth Ports' plans for massive regeneration on Leith Docks has teamed up with a senior environment figure.

Joined-Up Master Planning has struck a deal with Jon Aldenton of the London-based Environment Trust which will see him offer his expertise to the cause. JUMP, run by Leithers Ross McEwan and Shaeron Averbuch, argues that while regeneration is necessary, Forth Ports' outline application is unimaginative and not in the best interests of the area.

Already Mr Aldenton has held a meeting with JUMP and he will advise the group on the best approach to oppose the proposal for thousands of homes, offices and leisure facilities – which would be the biggest planning application the city council has dealt with.

Ms Averbuch said: "Jon has had a huge amount of experience in small and large-scale social enterprise, regeneration and development projects across the UK.

"He works with local people to assist them to develop their environments in sustainable ways, including major design and energy projects."
