Join Queen of Scots at Castle
Mary, Queen of Scots will appear at the heart of a series of costumed performances at Edinburgh Castle to celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday.
Mary gave birth at the Castle in 1566 to her only child, James, who went on to unite Scotland and England. The plays will demonstrate what life was like for mothers in the 16th century, from social customs, etiquette and costume to politics, religion and witchcraft.
As the One o'Clock Gun is not fired on a Sunday, there will instead be musket fire, and the weaponry available to Mary's guards will also be on show.
