Jobs blow for Lothians as electronics plant closes
DOZENS of jobs are to be lost at an electronics plant in West Lothian.
SEH Europe, which employs more than 500 people, has announced plans for 58 redundancies at its plant in Livingston.
West Lothian Council said it was seeking a meeting to discuss the proposed job losses.
Martyn Day, executive councillor for development and transport, said: "It is always disappointing to hear about any job losses in West Lothian. It is a particular setback at the start of a New Year."
He added: "We will be seeking a meeting with the company to discuss their plans. We will also be working with our partners to offer assistance, support and advice to local employees."
An SEH Europe spokesman said the action was being considered to reduce costs and help maintain its competitive position.
