Italian daub scoops award
AN Edinburgh artist has landed a prestigious award after creating a masterpiece inspired by the beauty of Italy.
Stephanie Dees, 32, originally from North Berwick, scooped the Cuthbert New Young Artist award at the annual exhibition of the acclaimed Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Art.
Her travels through Italy and, in particular, her love of Venice, inspired her painting Venetian Winter.
The Edinburgh College of Art graduate said: "I wanted to present Venice's grandeur by offering a unique perspective by painting a mystic winter image rather than a typical summer scene."
