IT problems

Have your say

Hardly a week goes past and we hear of another expensive government information technology (IT) project having numerous problems or being abandoned totally.

And who picks up the bill? Just imagine a newly independent Scottish Government faced with issues such as tax, pensions, welfare, benefits, passports, driving licences, border controls and trying to set up essential IT projects to operate these functions. Such projects must be managed thoroughly and efficiently for their duration.

Are you fully convinced that a newly independent Scotland is capable of managing these many and complex IT projects to deliver outcomes as per specification, on time and on budget?

This is not a Brigadoon utopia, bright heather-clad, sunlight uplands that we’re talking about.

This is harsh reality in a modern, complex, technological world. Be careful, very careful of what you wish for – it could cost you dearly.
