IRA killers ordered 'to leave no one alive'
IRA killers who gunned down ten Protestant workmen in one of Northern Ireland's worst atrocities were ordered to finish off their victims as they lay injured on a roadside, a new report has said.
The victims, all textile workers travelling home in a minibus that was ambushed, were lined up before the gunmen and the intention was that nobody was to survive, according to findings into the massacre near the Irish border 35 years ago.
Up to 11 gunmen were involved in the slaughter at Kingsmills in Co Armagh on 5 January, 1976. Their weapons may be linked to about 100 other killings.
Last night, families of the victims called for a public inquiry and answers from republicans.
The report was released by the Historical Enquiries Team.
