Occupation:

Further education lecturer and musician.

What sort of school pupil were you?

Quietly rebellious.

Do you have any famous contemporaries from your class?

Stuart 'Woody' Wood of Bay City Rollers fame.

Were your school days the best days of your life?

Quite the contrary; the best days of my life have been in recent years.

What was your first job?

A clerk in the accounts commission department of Standard Life.

My biggest achievement so far has been...

Apart from my family, the achievement that gives me the most satisfaction is the fact I've written and recorded two albums.

Three words that sum up my personality are...

Glass half full.

Favourite place in the world?

Portobello beach, out of season, with its gorgeous quality of light and subtlety of tones.

Which TV show do you never miss?

I never watch TV – it's not my thing.

Three places in Edinburgh you could not live without?

Porty beach, my home, Holyrood Park.

Who is your best friend?

Tommy (although he claims it's probably our dog, Ellie!)

If you could bring one show/band to Edinburgh what would it be?

It would have to be Neil Young again. Saw him for the first time last time he was here and he was stunning.

Name one item you not live without?

My Blueridge electric-acoustic guitar.

By what ethos do you live your life?

Treat others the way you'd like to be treated.

Rosie Nimo plays at Feast, Jewel and Esk College, on 2 April, 10am; and The Secret CDs, Voodoo Rooms, 6 April, 7pm.
