'Your call is important to us…'

FED-UP Britons spend more than a day each year on hold on the telephone, according to new research.

The average caller will be left hanging on for two hours and five minutes each month – 25 hours each year – before eventually getting through to an operator.

Half of those asked have waited for long periods only to get cut off once they finally got through to someone.

The poll of 2,500 people, by the online retailer CartridgeMonkey.com, found individuals give it three minutes before they start losing their temper.

The poll also revealed that Britons will wait on hold for an average of 15 minutes before getting fed up and putting the phone down.
