Yemen crowds take to streets in call for sackings

Tens of thousands rallied in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, and other cities yesterday to demand the removal of the former president’s relatives and allies from military and security posts.

The demonstrators took to the streets after Friday prayers vowing to continue their protests until the sons and family members of former president Ali Abdullah Saleh are sacked.

Mr Saleh, whose son and nephew command the powerful Republican Guard and Central Security forces, stepped down in February after more than a year of protests.
