Woman survives after fall in front of Boston train

FOOTAGE has been released which shows a Boston train driver stopping just inches short of a passenger who fell onto a subway track.

The woman is seen swaying from side to side before falling onto the track and attempting, in vain, to prise herself back up on top of the platform

at the city's North Station on Friday night.

She admitted to authorities that she had been drinking.

Fellow passengers are seen frantically waving at an approaching train to warn the driver.

The train's driver Charice Lewis applied the emergency brakes after receiving a call warning him that someone was on the tracks.

He was able to bring the train to a screeching halt.

The woman, whose name was not made public, suffered some scrapes and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
