Vladimir Putin slams party's 'empty promises'

RUSSIAN premier Vladimir Putin has harshly criticised his own party, saying it has fed the country empty promises.

He told the leadership of the United Russia party yesterday that it must offer efficient ways of solving problems and not be afraid to admit and correct its mistakes. The criticism follows a protest in Kaliningrad last week, when thousands of people rallied against the government.
