Tear gas used to break Sudan demo

Sudanese police fired tear gas to break up an anti-government protest of 300 worshippers after prayers yesterday, witnesses said, the latest demonstration against president Omar Hassan al-Bashir.

Protests started last month when Mr Bashir, in power since 1989, announced tough austerity measures, including phasing out fuel subsidies.
