Sri Lanka prays for resolution to fail

Hundreds of Buddhist monks and other clergy yesterday took part in a ceremony in Colombo praying for the defeat of a UN resolution calling on Sri Lanka to investigate wartime human rights abuses.

A statement of resolve that Sri Lankans may defeat the resolution – set to be brought to the UN Human Rights Council this week – was read out.
