Scots incest couple go on US TV to defend their affair

A SCOT and his half-sister have appeared on television in the United States to defend their incestuous relationship.

Nick Cameron and Danielle Heaney appeared in front of millions of viewers on the Good Morning America programme. They kissed on air and insisted they would continue their love affair, despite the outcry in the UK.

The couple appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in January and admitted committing incest at Danielle's home in Glenrothes, Fife. They were put on probation and warned they would jail if they have sex again.

But they are now planning a move to France, where they can live legally as a couple.

"I think it would be lovely to grow old together," Cameron, 28, told viewers. "There is a consistent and necessary need to be close to each other physically, to actually feel each other close."

Cameron was put into foster care when he was a toddler. Heaney was raised by their birth mother. Two years ago, they met at a family reunion.

They say they are automatically attracted because they were separated as children. "I think the first time I saw Danielle, I found her very attractive," Cameron said. "But I also thought, 'Hang on a second, this is your sister you're talking about'."

At the time, Heaney was married, and she broached the subject with her husband, with whom she has a daughter. She told the TV show: "I said I could grow to love Nick very easily. And, funnily enough, he said, 'Hopefully, just as a brother?' And I said, 'Of course!'"

But the couple told how they grew closer and it eventually developed into a sexual relationship.

Heaney 22, said: "I still feel that I've found my soul mate, and I'm not letting him go for anything."

Cameron told viewers he thought their mother would disown them for the rest of their lives.
