Saudi to fine firms with foreign staff

Saudi Arabia is stepping up efforts to lower unemployment by fining private sector firms that employ more foreigners than Saudis.

The policy will require private firms with mostly foreign workforces to pay 2,400 riyals (£400) a year for each excess foreigner. Roughly nine in ten employees in Saudi are expatriates, officials estimate.
