Record Atlantic crossing brothers land in Scotland

TWO brothers have arrived in Scotland after crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a power boat.

Ralph and Robert Brown left Tampa Bay, Florida, on 27 June to begin their journey and stopped at various harbours to refuel their 21ft boat.

The brothers are attempting to raise 3 million for charities that support injured armed service personnel, including Help For Heroes.

They want to collect $30, or 20 each, from 150,000 people across the world. Speaking from the Royal Forth Yacht Club, Ralph Brown said: "I'm exhausted and concerned about our mission.

"Our boat is the smallest power boat to cross the Atlantic. A French guy had the previous record with a 21ft 4in-long boat. His boat had a cabin and a keel. Our boat did not have a cabin or a keel."

The pair stopped in Granton Harbour at the Royal Forth Yacht Club yesterday to refuel before heading out to sea once again in their boat for the journey to London.
