Pro- and anti-gay protesters clash
The controversial Ukrainian group Femen, whose members stage pranks to support gay rights, have taunted marchers in Paris who oppose France’s draft law to legalise gay marriage.
The Catholic group Civitas organised yesterday’s march. Several Femen activists turned up topless, chanted “in gay we trust” and sprayed white powder.
That prompted several anti-gay marriage protesters to attack Femen members.
On Saturday several thousand people in cities across France protested against the draft law, which could see marriage and adoption legalised for homosexual couples early next year.
