Prison break by Filipino bandits

eleven prisoners – including a notorious bandit – have escaped from a Philippine jail by cutting through iron bars with a smuggled hacksaw.

The escapees include Datukan Samad, who faces kidnapping and murder charges in the southern Philippines. Cotabato police chief Danny Reyes said the fugitives sawed through iron bars in the jail’s toilets early yesterday, a day after president Benigno Aquino III praised prison security.
