Police deflated after raid on ‘murder’ flat
ARMED police who raided the flat of a German man suspected of murder left him at large after he showed them his "victims" - an extensive collection of inflatable sex dolls.
A neighbour of the Munich bachelor had reported him to local detectives after seeing him carrying what looked like a dead woman over his shoulder. The call provoked a massive swoop on the flat near the city centre on Tuesday evening.
A police spokeswoman said: "I don’t know who was more embarrassed - us or him. We responded to a genuine call of a man suspected of murder after he was seen carrying what a neighbour described as a body. Once officers were inside his apartment, the man was surprised and disturbed by our questioning, but all became clear when he showed the officers his collection.
"The ‘corpse’ in question turned out to be an inflatable silicon sex doll. He had at least four others. And plenty of other things besides."
The spokesman added: "He said he was just bringing his new toy into the flat to, ahem, try it out, when he was seen by his worried neighbour."
The spokeswoman said that police had then left the flat and closed the file.
"They didn’t want to disturb him any longer," the spokeswoman said.
