Oops, Britney has really done it this time

SHE has fired her people, fought with her mother and taken an ocean dip in her underwear. Now an attempt by Britney Spears to set her bizarre record straight with a celebrity photo shoot has really backfired.

Celebrity-friendly OK! magazine said an interview and photo spread intended to relaunch the 25-year-old singer's career turned into a "heartbreaking day" of ruined designer dresses, dog fouling and erratic behaviour.

"What we experienced was a young girl who is desperately in need of help. And, sadly, she has surrounded herself with too many people who are pretending that nothing is wrong," OK! said in excerpts from its story published tomorrow.

The interview in a Hollywood Hills home last week was requested by Spears to clear up gossip since shaving off her hair and entering a rehabilitation clinic in February, negotiating her divorce from Kevin Federline, a dancer, and planning her musical comeback.

Instead, she let her new puppy do its business on a 3,500 Zac Posen gown, wiped her greasy hands on a pink silk Alisha Levine dress, took repeated toilet breaks without closing the door, and fled after only four test shots still wearing more than 7,000 of OK!'s borrowed clothing.

To cap it all, the pictures were such bad quality that OK! called them unpublishable.

"A shocked crew, which had bent over backwards to accommodate Britney's demands, packed up and left with nothing but sour memories of a young lady so eager to tell the world the truth about herself," OK! said.

The OK! photo shoot followed weeks of unusual behaviour by Spears, who became a worldwide pop phenomenon eight years ago with hits like Oops! I Did it Again and Baby One More Time.
