New website for latin
THE Roman Catholic Church, a stronghold of the Latin language for centuries, has launched the ancient language into the 21st century by starting a Latin website.
The Sancta Sedes (Holy See) section of the Vatican website now has a collection of Latin papal texts and religious documents available.
Pope Benedict XVI is a strong promoter of the language and has stressed that he wants the Catholic Church to keep its ancient traditions. Vatican Radio also has a programme dedicated to the language, called The Latin Lover.
