Narrow margin in Iceland confidence vote
ICELAND’S centre-left government survived a no-confidence vote in parliament yesterday, with a close vote underlining the weakness of the coalition as it faces an election next month.
Parliament voted 32 to 29 against the motion of no confidence – called to protest against the government postponing constitutional reform – with one MP abstaining and one absent.
Prime minister Johanna Sigurdardottir said: “It is very valuable for the government to get this statement of trust.”
