Kosovo Serbs 'killed for their organs'

ALBANIA'S top prosecutor yesterday met a Serbian war crimes prosecutor who is investigating claims that guerrillas killed Serb prisoners for their organs during the 1999 Kosovo war.

Vladimir Vukcevic gave the Albanian material the Serb side has gathered on the case so far. Mr Vukcevic is probing claims that mass graves containing the remains of murdered Serbs could be hidden in Albania.

Allegations of organ- trafficking involving Serbs killed during the 1998-9 war first surfaced in a book by the former chief UN war crimes prosecutor, Carla Del Ponte.
