‘Jews are being driven out of Sweden’ claim
The president of the European Jewish Congress has warned Jews in Sweden are under threat from a campaign of violence.
Moshe Kantor said Sweden’s 18,000 Jews faced a campaign to force them out of Sweden, centred on the port town of Malmo
He said: “The situation is intolerable for Jews in Malmo, and every week we hear of another attack. The community is slowly being pushed out; it is dying of a ‘thousand cuts’.”
Houses belonging to Jews in Malmo had swastikas scrawled on their doors this week. In recent months, the congress said, a rabbi was assaulted and several other Jews attacked.
