Jail abuse was known says Canadian official
CANADIAN government officials were aware of abuse allegations in Afghan jails when the military handed detainees to them in 2006, a top diplomat has said.
Former foreign affairs chief David Mulroney told a parliamentary hearing that despite this Canada had agreed with Afghan officials to hand over the prisoners.
