Iran’s nuclear chief says bases are ‘missile proof’

“terrorists and saboteurs” may have infiltrated the International Atomic Energy Agency in an effort to derail Iran’s atomic programme, the country’s nuclear chief said yesterday.

Fereydoun Abbasi made the comments to the IAEA’s 155-nation general conference, reflecting Iran’s determination to continue defying international pressure aimed at curbing its nuclear programme and nudging it toward co-operation with the IAEA inspection teams.

Mr Abbasi suggested that foreign attacks would not slow his country’s nuclear programme.

He said without elaboration that experts have “devised certain ways through which nuclear facilities remain intact under missile attacks and raids”.
